• The demands of an extended family are the source of conflict
• Death or illness of a loved one occurs
• Family members have a hard time understanding one another’s feelings, thoughts, desires, fears, concerns and behaviours.

Family therapy helps to understand the relationship between the thoughts, feelings and behaviours of family members, and the impact of these on each other.

Family therapy helps address the developmental challenges of the parent, child or adolescent.

Therapy is usually done with the entire family, although other people may attend if it is considered necessary. In therapy, we seek
jointly to understand the situation in the family and the desired change. The goal is to increase the well-being of the family and improve interaction between members.

It is also possible to explore the individual’s own family history and patterns of interaction in individual visits.
The frequency and length of family therapy visits vary. Sometimes 2-5 visits are enough to clarify a family situation, but sometimes the therapy may take several years.
